thought4thursday: voice

mouthpsalm 29:3-9

The voice of the LORD is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.

The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is majestic.

The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;
the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
Mount Hermon like a young wild ox.

The voice of the LORD strikes
with flashes of lightning.

The voice of the LORD shakes the desert;
the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh.

The voice of the LORD twists the oaks
and strips the forests bare.
And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

think about it: how would someone describe YOUR voice?

funerals & faith

a life of true faith speaks VOLUMES, no matter how loudly it’s actually carried it out. rick robbibaro exemplified just this.

technically, my relationship with rick & his family is as acquaintances, but feels deeper b/c it formed from  serving in ministry together.  something about working toward a common goal creates bonds the usual definitions can’t capture.

this is why i found myself at rick’s funeral today where i heard MANY sharing about his impact on their lives, specifically through his faith in God. they spoke of his kindness, love of family, hope, acts of service, integrity, work ethic & compassion. i sensed holy power as the words came forth.

if there’s one thing i learned about rick today, it’s that he loved God and wanted others to have a personal relationship w/God thru Christ.

he reminds me that we’re each uniquely equipped to impact those around us and i must stop evaluating the measure of a person’s faith by external criteria. rick was a quiet man, in the usual definition of the word, but based on the legacy he leaves, his life couldn’t have spoken more loudly.  thanks, rick.

just a smidge

this blog will capture just a touch of what’s inside my head and heart….after you read for awhile, i’m sure you’ll ask, “how could there possibly be more?” well, ask anyone who knows me and they’ll say something like, “shhh, she might hear you and tell you everything.”

so begins my cyber-journey to capture thoughts, gain insight and hone the use of the written word.

in the end, through these external musings, i hope to provide just “a smidgen of genius,” and “a sliver of cutting truth” (John Simon).

thanks 4 reading.
